Moon Info

Lots of words, hope you can read :)

Moon is the last zombie map for Call of Duty Black Ops. It takes place at Area 51 (Groom Lake) and allows you to teleport to a base on the moon. Actually, most of the map is on the base.
The start of the game has you at Hangar 18 in Groom Lake. There will be a Pack-A-Punch machine and either a Jugger-Nog or Speed Cola machine. The machines switch back and forth. This is a pre-round type thing. Zombies will come from the sides and up through the mud. They will die from one knife hit or a few rounds of your M1911. If you have the skill and know how, you can chain the zombies together and get enough points for Jugger-Nog. Hell Hounds can also be found in this area, but only this area. The Perk-A-Colas are right next to a teleporter pad. You need to get to the teleporter pad to make it to the moon base and start the rounds of zombies.
While on the moon, you must put on a special suit and helmet, or you will die. The suit is called the P.E.S. You can take off the helmet when you restore the power to certain areas of the base. Like usual, the power is off once you reach the base. There will be no gravity or air. Find the power room to restore gravity and air to select areas of the moon base. You can tell if there's air by jumping. If it takes awhile to jump, there is no air or gravity.
Along with these enemies is a new challenge. After you turn on the power, three Excavators will try to breech the base. The Excavators are giant machines that saw into the base. If you get close to the Excavator, you will be downed in two quick hits with Jugger-Nog. It's pretty tough to shut them all down. You must get a Hacker device( which is found on one of the desks between the Double Tap Rootbeer and the Deadshot Daiquiri) and hack one of the three terminals at the starting room near the Quick Revive. When you pick it up, you will leave your helmet behind. This prevents you from going outside of the Moon Base. You must either teleport back to Area 51 and back to the moon base, get caught by Astronaut Zombies, or use a Gersch Device and enter the black hole. You can also hack various other things around the map such as the Mystery Box, Doors, Barriers, and the gate around the Pack-A-Punch machine.
Another quick notable feature can be found around the base, most common in the dome. There are yellow square shaped pads that will launch you in the air if you stand on them. The ones in the dome will launch you to other yellow pads. The silver pads will cushion your fall. If you hit the floor without Jugger-Nog or PhD Flopper, you can get injured or downed just by falling from up high.

The strategy for this level is to stay in the plant room (the room with the large dome) and run around there. If you find any other spot then let us know in the comments.

Cryogenic Slumber Party / Big Bang Theory Easter Egg

Before you attempt to unlock quite possibly the most elaborate Easter egg known to man in the Zombie map, Moon, you will need to have satisfied these requirements:
  • Need 2-4 players.
  • Cryogenic Slumber Party can be soloed then a minimum of 2 players are needed to continue easter egg, one has to be Richtofen.
  • Everyone involved must have the Achievements Ensemble Cast and Time Travel Will Tell from the previous Zombie maps, Call of the Dead and Shangri-La, respectively.
  •  Three Mystery Box weapons: Wave Gun, Quantum Entanglement Device (QED), and Gersch Device.
  •  Excavator “Pi” to reach tunnel 6.
  • (New 9/16/11) I completed the Cryogenic slumber party and Big Bang theory easter eggs with two people, one having done the solo Stand-In achievement for Call of the Dead, and the other having done both easter eggs from Call of the Dead and Shangri-La respectively. Having every party member with the preliminary achievements may not be necessary to complete the easter egg.
Step 1: Activate the power first. Once you do, find the four computer terminals that sit in the outside beginning area. Each computer terminal lights up a specific color, and you essentially must play “Simon Says.” When you successfully input a round of sequences, all four terminals light up green, signaling the next step.

Step 2: Head into the lab area with all the servers and use a hacker to hack one of four red buttons along the wall. Afterwards, some terminals light up green in the adjacent room. Have someone hack all four of these green-lit terminals, and at least one other person press the four red buttons within seconds of one another until they all
remain lit.

Step 3: The third step involves the Excavator breaching tunnel 6 (where the M16 is). It’s easier if you only open up the doors through tunnel 6 when you start. Afterwards, get rid of the Excavator by hacking the proper terminal in the Receiving Area.

Step 4: If everything has gone according to plan so far, you’ll notice a round stone floating near the M16. Knife it to make it start floating around. Keep knifing it to move it along. Note that if it seems to have “hid” itself, you just need to shoot it in the general area where it disappeared to make it re-appear. This floating stone eventually bumbles its way to the disc at the base of that strange pyramid.

Step 5: A cylindrical tube emerges from the right side of the pyramid’s base. Apparently, zombies’ souls belong in this tube. For the tube to collect these souls, you’ll need to kill a decent number of zombies near it, and you’ll watch the tube slowly fill up. When the tube is completely filled with zombie souls, you’ll next need to flip the switch on the wall to the right of the tube.
Congratulations on unlocking Cryogenic Slumber Party!
From here, you need Richtofen’s Vrill Generator to continue. This is gotten by completing the previous Easter egg Achievements. Whoever is Richtofen will have the Vrill Generator at the bottom of his screen.

Step 6: You all have the Death Machine power-up for about 90 seconds, so head back to Area 51 (where you first started) to earn some major points on zombies, if any. Look to your right and chuck grenades at the plates on the shelf. A friend with the Gersch Device needs to then throw a Gersch Device to where the plates have fallen to suck them up and move them to the teleporter. Quickly get on the teleporter to be transported back to
the station.

Step 7: You’ll now find the plates lying on the floor in front of the Quick Revive. Use the QED to shuttle them to the computer in the corner of the same room. Whoever is Richtofen must place the Vrill Generator in-between the plates to activate a cut-scene. Have Richtofen keep pressing X at the computer keyboard until the voice-over
ends and the color of the computer screen turns and stays green.

Step 8: Take the glowing Vrill Generator and return to the pyramid. The Vrill Generator will insert itself in the engraving and cause more cylindrical tubes to rise from the corners. You’ll need to kill enough zombies to fill up each tube. Once all four tubes have been infused with souls, activate the switch again to drain them.

Step 9: Make sure Richtofen grabs the revealed Vrill Generator to earn him perks that stick around permanently. Use the QED to transport the floating stone back outside. It ends up right by the “Simon Says” computer terminals. Suck up the floating stone with the Gersch Device.

Step 10: The stone goes to some out-of-reach rockets, which launch themselves toward Earth, after successfully completing “Simon Says.”
When the rockets smash into the Earth, you earn Big Bang Theory.

Easter Eggs

Musical Easter Egg 1

Another musical easter egg. Find 3 hidden Teddy Bears with Helmets around the map to activate the Easter Egg. Click X (360), Square (PS3), or F (PC) on the Bears to activate them. The song is called "Coming Home" by Elena Siegman and Kevin Sherwood. The bears are at the following locations:
  • Under the starting area at the Moon Base
  • In the air lock between the M16 and Power Room
  • In a broken wall near the Stamin-Up

Musical Easter Egg 2

This is a second Musical Easter Egg on the Zombie Map "Moon." It's not really a full song like the first one. It's an electronical version of the song "Damned." Press the activate button on the computer next to the MP5K to turn it on.

Musical Easter Egg 3

This is the third Musical Easter Egg on the map "Moon." It's not really a full song like the first one. It's an electronic (8-Bit?) version of the song "Coming Home." To activate it, press the activate button on the equipment near the Stamin-Up.

Musical Easter Egg 4

This is the fourth Musical Easter Egg on the zombie map "Moon." All you have to do is press the activate button on some equipment across the room from the Double Tap Rootbeer. The activate button is X (Xbox 360), Square (PS3), or F (PC).
The song is an electronic (8-Bit?) Version of "Pareidolia."

Enemies

You may notice a new enemy right off the bat. Astronaut Zombies can be found on the base with names over their heads. Do not get close to them or they will hold on to you, attack you, steal your first Perk, and teleport you. They usually send you somewhere near the start of the moon base. If they do grab hold of you, you can still attack them. Once you kill them, they will blow up and blast you back with a shock wave. The shock wave may kill zombies near by. They have a lot more health than the average starter zombie, so don't hold back.
Creepy Crawlers return on Moon. This time, you do not need to turn on the power for them to come. Instead, they will appear after you open the door to Double Tap Rootbeer Some Creepy Crawlers have the ability to teleport across the room like a bullet. This makes it much difficult to keep your distance when they blow up. The gas they shoot off will not harm you if you are wearing your P.E.S.

Perk-A-Colas

You'll notice a Jugger-Nog or Speed Cola machine at the start of the match. They will change back and forth each time you teleport back to Area 51.
  • Quick Revive Speeds up revival of other teams, or if your on solo you can revive yourself.
  • Jugger-Nog Take's 4 hits by zombies to kill you like a boss (6 by gas zombies, hellhounds, or monkeys)
  • Speed Cola Sleight of Hand like a boss
  • Double Tap Root Beer Speeds up fire rate. Also speeds up bolt action reloads or pump action reloads like a boss
  • PhD Flopper Dolphin dive and causes explosion, take no explosive damage or fall damage like a boss
  • Deadshot Daiquiri Aim assists at head, Snipers are completely still like a boss
  • Stamin-Up Run long and fast like a boss
  • Mule Kick Grab yourself a third weapon like a boss

Pack-A-Punch

The Pack-A-Punch can be seen at the beginning of the level at Area 51/Groom Lake. It makes your weapon a boss (most of the time)

Mystery Box

The Mystery Box is at a random location from the start of the game. The special weapons exclusive to Moon include:
  • Ray Gun Shoots green (red if pack a punched) balls of power
  • Gersch Device Creates a black hole that sucks up zombies like a boss. If you jump through it you teleport
  • Wave Gun The Wave Gun is a Dual Wield weapon that shoots a lightning bolt from one weapon and a plasma round, like the Ray Gun, from the other weapon. You can combine them to one gun or split them up at any time you like. If you combine them, they will shoot a special laser that causes zombies to expand and explode.
  • Quantum Entanglement Device Creates something that can help you or hurt you
For a full list of all weapons that can be found in the Mystery Box, view the Mystery Box page.

Power-Ups

The special Power-Ups that can be found on Moon include:
  • Death Machine It's what it says. A minigun that causes death to zombies
  • Fire Sale Mystery Box spawns in all possible spawning locations and reduces price down to 10
For a full list of all Power-Ups that can be found in each level, view the Power-Ups page.
